Durack Challenges Victoria Quay

The membership of Durack Toastmasters today set the challenge to beat Victoria Quay Toastmasters and be the first club in the District to achieve distinguished status in the coming year.

GameOn

Each year, Toastmasters International awards clubs that have performed well in the year starting from the 1st of July. The club members need to achieve their educational awards, new members have to be attracted, and the administrative duties of the club need to be performed. For the past five years straight, Durack has achieved the highest possible award award, the President’s Distinguished Club. This has also been achieved by Victoria Quay and the two clubs are nearly always the first to achieve it for the district, which includes Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania and Western Australia.

“We have a great deal of respect for the Victoria Quay club,” said Durack President Michael Malone. “But Durack is that little bit better. So in the coming year, we’re going to prove it by taking the flag again.”

The race is on.

  1. We have a great of respect for Durack club. Victoria Quay members started the club back in July, 1999.

We will be very happy for Durack to rocket ahead towards Distinguished Club status. There is a technical problem. Toastmasters International won’t award any Distinguished status until after the Renewals have been put through at the end of March 2009. So, we will accept the challenge in the sense of at least 5 Goals posted with at least 20 financial members.

There is a further timing problem. Currently, World Headquarters are completing their end of year processing. I expect that to be posted tonight our time. After that there will be a brief period with those records displayed, before the records for the new year start to be displayed. When that happens, prepare for a shock.
